Preschool Open Gym Rules

(Ages 1-4 YRS. only) $8.00 /per participant

GUIDELINES – Please review these Preschool Open Gym guidelines to make your visit the best it can be!

*** Our preschool Open Gyms are designed for children ages 12 months through 4.5 years old. As this is not  instructional time, parents MUST BE on the gym floor at all times and are expected to supervise their children.  Please make other arrangements for older children as they are not to be on the floor during this time.

  • All participants must follow all appropriate safety rules as shown on safety posters throughout the gym. This includes ALWAYS landing feet first and NO FLIPPING on the trampolines or into the pit unless the child has been properly instructed in a North Coast Gymnastics class.

  • No street shoes on the gym floor at any time. Appropriate gym attire consists of leotards, shorts, or other similar athletic attire. No jewelry, belts, gum, jeans/denim or zippers. Long hair should be tied back for safety.

  • For the safety of our gymnasts, flash photography is not allowed during any North Coast Gymnastics Academy activity.

  • Infant Policy: Please be reminded that there is a risk associated with any gymnastics activity. All participants who enter the gymnastics facility, including infants and adults, need to be aware of the risks associated with gymnastics equipment, uneven surfaces, and other participants.  An Open Gym is not an ideal setting for infants.  Before entering the facility with your infant, we ask that you be completely aware of all inherent risks associated with this activity.  A copy of our rules is available at the front desk at all times.  Children not yet walking are permitted into the facility at no charge if accompanied by a paying participant.

  • Accompanying adults are defined as adults 18 years of age or older, whether parents, relatives, temporary or permanent guardians, childcare providers, et al. Accompanying adults are allowed in the gym area during North Coast Gymnastics Academy activities as supervisors only. Accompanying adults are allowed in the floor area only during specific times allowed by North Coast Gymnastics Academy, but may not be on any equipment, with the exception of the floor and pit or to assist their children during preschool open gym.

  • Food & Beverage Policy: No coffee, hot drinks or food on gym floor, runways, or pit areas.

  • All participants must have a participation form completed by a parent or legal guardian on file. These forms are good for one calendar year and will then need to be renewed at the gym office.  NO ONE will be allowed to participate without this signed consent form completed by a parent or legal guardian!  NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • Any violations of these rules is reason for an instructor to sit a student out for a period of time or to deny the privilege of open gym if the problem persists.

COVID update: One parent per paying child is allowed on gym floor. All parents/guardians MUST wear a mask at all times while in the facility. Children are NOT required to wear masks while in the facility. No older siblings, those 5 and up, who are not participating in preschool open gym are allowed in the gym or in the waiting area at this time. 

Please do a health screen check in before coming to open gym.

If you and your child are Free from: Fever, Cough, runny nose, diarrhea or vomiting, rash, flu like symptoms and have not knowingly been exposed to someone with COVID 19 in past 14 days, or tested positive for COVID 19 IN PAST 14 days we'd love to have you. If you answer YES to any of these please stay home until you can answer NO.

5+ OPEN GYM GUIDELINES

GUIDELINES – Please review these 5+ Open Gym guidelines to make your visit the best it can be!

  • Parents: NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED ON THE FLOOR DURING 5+ OPEN GYM! Parents may view from upstairs or drop children off after sign-in and pick them up promptly at the end of open gyms. *No parent viewing due to COVID mandates currently

  • Picking Up: If you need to get your child early from open gym, please call us or come in and wait at front office, a staff will be available to assist you. Participants will exit to a parent/guardian through the front door at the completion of open gym. 

  • Food & Beverage: No coffee, hot drinks or food on gym floor, runways, or pit areas.

  • All participants must follow all appropriate safety rules as shown on safety posters throughout the gym. This includes ALWAYS landing feet first and NO FLIPPING on the trampolines or into the pit unless the child has been properly instructed in a North Coast Gymnastics class.

  • All participants are expected to form lines at the equipment. Equal turns should be taken on trampoline. Skipping lines will not be tolerated.

  • There will be no running in the gym.

  • No balls will be allowed during open gym, unless permitted by the lead coach on staff.

  • Non-members & members all must have a participation form completed by a parent or legal guardian on file. These forms are good for one calendar year and will then need to be renewed at the gym office.  NO ONE will be allowed to participate without this signed consent form completed by a parent or legal guardian!  NO EXCEPTIONS.

Any violations of these rules is reason for an instructor to sit a student out for a period of time or to deny the privilege of open gym if the problem persists.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

Each Open Gym class does have a maximum number of students permitted.  When full, we will post a sign on the front door; no students will be permitted to attend open gym once we have reached full capacity.  Thank you for your understanding as we strive to create a fun and SAFE environment for our student(s)!

Participants must sign up online at www.northcoastgym.com for open gym. Sign-up is open through the day off open gym. 

Students will be let in 5 minutes prior to the start of Open Gym time. Please make sure to be on time with pick up. 

COVID update: 

Parent Viewing is CLOSED at this time. Please make sure to pre sign up for open gyms.

An office staff will be available for drop off, please make sure your child makes it in to the gym and then we kindly ask that you return for pick up or wait in the parking lot. A staff will call you promptly should there be any concerns. 

Parents/Guardians are required to have a face mask on at all times if coming into the building.

Pit Rules

The following PIT rules have been established to allow everyone to “explore the possibilities & join in on the fun!”.

Please be aware that the pit is hard to maneuver.  Keep that in mind before entering.

  1. Always remove socks before entering the pit. Objects in pockets may fall out.  We are not responsible for lost personal items.

  2. Always check the pit before entering. Do not enter the pit if other people are in your way.

  3. Enter the pit one at a time.

  4. Always land in the pit. If you miss the pit, it can’t keep you from getting injured.

  5. Watch carefully when you jump to avoid hitting others already in the pit.

  6. Always move out of the way immediately when other people are ready to enter the pit.

  7. Use safe landing positions, feet, bottom, or back. Never head first, chest, or stomach or in an arched position.

  8. Flips are not allowed without a coach’s knowledge, consent, and presence.

  9. Horseplay is not permitted. Do not throw pit cubes at others.

  10. Do not bury yourself or your friends under the pit cubes.

  11. Do not make holes in the pit area.

  12. Do not tear the pit cubes.  This can cause pit dust.

  13. Keep the pit cubes in the pit at all times.  Please replace any foam you see outside the pit.

  14. Make sure the pit is fluffed before attempting any skill into the pit.

  15. Re-fluff the pit regularly and whenever holes occur or the foam is packed down.

  16. Do not attempt to perform any skill into the pit that you do not have the necessary skills to execute properly.

Trampoline Rules

The following Trampoline rules have been established to allow everyone to “explore the possibilities & join in on the fun!”

  1. One at a time, unless under the knowledge and direct supervision of a coach.

  2. Always walk on and off of the trampoline, slowly and carefully.

  3. Learn how to freeze and stop bouncing.

  4. Maintain proper control while bouncing.

  5. NO FLIPS ALLOWED, unless under the knowledge and direct supervision of a coach.

  6. Follow the direction of the Trampoline set up by the supervising coach.

  7. Wait for your turn on the Trampoline until the person in front of you has exited the trampoline or landing mat.

  8. Exit the pit area to the designated area.

  9. Proper progressions are important. Execute only those skills you are capable of performing.

GYM RULES AND POLICIES​

General policies

  • Each athlete is expected to comply with the gym dress code. All personal items needed for gymnastics (grips, tiger paws, etc.) must have the athletes name and be stored in proper areas.

  • Personal property is the sole responsibility of the students. NCGA is not responsible for lost or misplaced personal items.

  • Lost and found items will be held for 3 months and then donated.

  • Gym Floor - No one other than NCGA staff or registered athletes are allowed out on the gym floor, this is for your safety. If your child needs assistance while on the floor, see the front desk.

  • Do not let children climb on chairs, bleachers, cubbies or railings.

DRESS CODE
 Hair must be worn up, no exceptions.
 No jewelry should be worn and it is preferred that glasses have a safety strap.
Girls
 Leotards must be worn with or without shorts.
Boys
 Should wear fitted shorts and a t-shirt or tank top. There should be no pants, buckles, buttons or zippers. This is
for the athletes as well as the coach’s safety.
WEATHER/SNOW PROCEDURE
 If Bellingham School District is closed due to weather, NCGA will be closed for all morning programs. We will
evaluate the conditions to see if we can open for the afternoon/evening. Emails will be sent by 1pm and posted
on website and Facebook of any changes to classes.
 Late starts will not change our schedule.
 Please make sure your email information is correct, this is how we will communicate updates.

DROP OFF/PICK UP AND PARKING
 Please utilize the NCGA parking lot for all drop-off and pick-up. There is no drop-off or pick-up from
Express Drive in front of the gym. This is for the safety of all athlete’s and consideration to our neighbors
who need to get past. Please find a proper parking space and walk your athlete to the door. Additional
parking available on the side of the building or across the street from NCGA.
 No athletes will be allowed to wait outside for pick-up. This is for the safety of all that participate at NCGA.

SICK CHILD POLICY
For courtesy towards other families, we ask you to please err on the side of caution and do not bring your child to
class if he/she has any one of the below symptoms or conditions:

 A fever of 100.0 or higher.  Child must be fever free for at least 24 hours before returning to NCGA,
without taking Tylenol or other medicine to control it.
 Green, yellow or brown mucus running from the nose, eyes or mouth. If your child has been on antibiotics
for at least 24 hours, he/she is allowed to attend class/practice.
 Coughing, with or without congestion, uncontrollably.
 Diarrhea or a loose stool.  Child may not return to NCGA unless the child has gone at least 24 hours without
diarrhea.
 Vomiting or stomach flu.  Child may not return to NCGA unless the child has gone at least 24 hours without
vomiting.
 A questionable rash or bumps on the skin.  Parent must bring a doctor’s note to explain rash and that it is not
contagious.
 Lice or eggs on the scalp or hair. If a child has had lice they should be free of lice or eggs for 48 hours before
returning to NCGA for classes.

We realize how much work it is to pack the kids in the car and get to the gym for class and we greatly appreciate
your commitment to the program.  However, if we do see a child with a lot of mucous or a heavy cough or if they
are experiencing any of the above symptoms, we will ask you to take your kiddo home.

POLICES FOR PARENTS

 Please refrain from coaching your child from the viewing area.
 Parents are not allowed on the gym floor (other than Parent/ Tot classes.)
 Parents are welcome to watch classes from the designated viewing areas.
 Please do not leave young children unattended in the viewing area.
 Please be ON TIME when picking up your child from class.
 Children are NOT PERMITTED to leave the building without an accompanying adult. You must park
and come inside to pick up your child.
 NO FLASH Photography! The flash could temporarily blind a gymnast trying to complete a skill.

TUITION & FEES
Tuition Payment, Enrollment, Make-ups and Billing Explained
All new and returning students must register and pay tuition and registration fees at the time of enrollment. Current
registration is $35 per child or $50 per family No registration fee is needed for open gym, parents night out or camp
participation. Registration fees occur once every 12 months on your anniversary date.
Recreational Tuition is billed monthly on an on going auto enrollment. 
Enrollment
 Classes begin on the 1st Monday of each month. You retain your spot once enrolled, you may cancel by the 19th of any month for the upcoming month. New families may join if space is available during any month or after the 21st of each month online. 
Payments
 Upon enrollment online you are signing up for reoccurring classes. Classes and curriculum run September- June, with additional offerings over the summer. 
At this time we are not able to offer make ups for missed classes. Tuition is pro rated if you start late in the session and for holiday closures through out the year. 
 If an emergency arises and you are unable to complete the month, a credit will be applied to your account. We do not give
refunds for classes paid. All credits expire 1-year from date received.

Make-ups: * *Please note make up policy has changed effective January 2018**
**Due to increased class enrollment we no longer have space in classes to offer make ups during class times.
Please make every effort to come to your scheduled classes. If for some reason you are unable to attend, please see
policies below. These polices are put into place so that each child in class is able to receive the highest level of instruction
and progression on their path of learning.
 If your student will be absent or becomes ill you are required to contact the front office by calling ahead of the
scheduled class, you will then be put on a list for that months make ups.
 Make up classes run one Saturday a month (date TBD) from 11-12 pm. Regardless of class time make ups run 1
hour, as make ups should not be a substitute for scheduled classes.
 If you call after the class has taken place no make-up will be awarded.
 Students may make up 1 class per month regardless of the reason for missing class.
 We do not pro-rate for missed classes.
 If NCGA closes for inclement weather there will be a special make up class offered for those affected.
 All make-ups are forfeited if the student drops from the program. 
 All make ups must be completed within the current session.
